The Champlain Gl Endoscopy Central Intake Program was developed to benefit patients by:

  • Addressing the backlog of patients awaiting endoscopy as a result of COVID.
  • Improving patient access to timely endoscopy.
  • Ensuring patients are receiving the right test, for the right indication, at the right facility with the most appropriate specialist.
  • Enhancing communication, record keeping and continuity of care.

The Central Intake Process

Care Decision

Your family doctor has decided that you require a specialist visit for Cancer Screening-related Colonoscopy.

Referral Sent

Your family doctor will send your referral to Endoscopy Central Intake

Referral Screening

Central Intake receives and triages your referral for eligibility based on Cancer Care Ontario (cco) guidelines.
Protocol Icon

Routing & Protocol

Once successfully triaged, your referral is sent to the most appropriate hospital and specialist*
If your referral does not meet CCO guidelines, it will be sent back to your family doctor providing clear and concise details along with appropriate clinical recommendations

Scheduling

The specialist's office will receive the request and contact you to schedule a consult and/or a colonoscopy procedure.
We are unable to provide an estimated timeframe for when to expect a scheduling call as each office follows its own unique processes.
